Having joined Jenkin & Kamin in 1993, Lynn Kamin became a partner in the firm in 1998. Lynn has devoted herself to advocating for the needs of children and families in crisis. For Lynn the practice of family law inherently contains an element of public service and she has successfully incorporated this commitment to public service into both her personal and professional life.

A native Houstonian, Lynn graduated from University of Arizona with bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and English with a minor in Education. After obtaining her Masters in Secondary Education and Psychology from San Francisco State University of California at Berkeley, Lynn taught for a number of years, devoting her attention to teaching children with learning disorders.

Married, with two beautiful daughters, Lynn turned her attention to law school, completing her studies at South Texas College of Law in 1988. From the beginning of her legal career Lynn knew that her focus would be family law, believing that it dovetailed with her continuing commitment to public service--specifically, children and families. Lynn has also been an active volunteer throughout her law career. She was a longstanding director on the board of the Child Abuse Task Force and played an integral role in the organization and development of the Children’s Assessment Center, a program focused on meeting the sensitive needs of child sexual abuse victims.

In addition to her work with children, Lynn has also volunteered countless hours for various community service programs through the Houston Bar Association. She has worked to develop the Houston Bar Association’s Pro Se Clinic, which serves to educate parties who choose to represent themselves in family law matters, primarily because they cannot afford to hire an attorney. She often handles pro bono cases through the Houston Volunteer Lawyer Program. Lynn has also served as editor-in-chief of the Houston Bar Association’s Family Law Handbook. To date, more than 25,000 handbooks have been distributed across the state to assist parties and agencies in understanding essential family law topics.

Board-certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Lynn has also served on the board of directors of Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists and is Past President of the Burta Rhoads Raborn Inns of Court. She has been active in the Houston Bar Association’s Family Law Section for nearly a decade, serving as chair, chair-elect, secretary and several terms as a director. Lynn also participates in numerous other Houston Bar Association activities, including LegalLines, the Family/Probate Bench Bar Conference, and the John J. Eikenburg Law Week Fun Run. She is the past chair of the Houston Bar Foundation. For her tireless efforts, Lynn has earned the respect and admiration of her peers, named "Friend of HBA, Family Law Section" by that organization, the David A. Gibson 2005 winner and the recipient of the Burta Rhoads Raborn Mentor Award.

Known for her generosity of spirit and legal expertise, Lynn is a frequently sought after speaker on custody issues, complex property issues, and other family law issues at both local and state continuing legal education programs. She has also been interviewed on local television stations about family law issues as well as her work with the Houston Bar Association’s community service programs.

Equally comfortable before a judge or a jury, Lynn is considered to be a brilliant and tenacious trial attorney who has tried highly contentious cases not only in Harris County but also throughout the state. When she is not advocating a position before a judge or focusing her presentation to a jury, Lynn enjoys reading, traveling, sailing with her husband, and playing with her two grandsons.
