Gregg Weinberg has practiced law in Texas since 1982. His areas of focus are professional liability matters, complex commercial litigation, financial cases and cases that other lawyers might consider “odd.†Mr. Weinberg has tried to jury verdict cases involving claims of malpractice against medical professionals, lawyers, accountants, and design professionals. His professional liability practice also includes representation of real estate brokers/agents, insurance agents/brokers/adjusters, securities brokers, financial planners, surveyors, and anyone that provides a service based on a skill set developed by experience/training or education. His repertoire of cases off the beaten track includes the representation of several golf courses, medical products liability matters (including Vitek TMJ implants) and The Fund for Animals (“kinkajous are not monkeysâ€).
Mr. Weinberg brought his professional liability and commercial litigation group to Roberts Markel, P.C. after a distinguished 23 career with Lyman, Twining, Weinberg & Ferrell, P.C. (formerly known as Giessel, Barker & Lyman, P.C.).
Mr. Weinberg has tried cases in State Court as well as Federal Courts in Texas. He handles cases in arbitration and serves as a mediator on selected cases. Mr. Weinberg was selected by other trial lawyers as a member in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He was certified in 1987 by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocates (NBTA) in Professional Liability. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute , the Houston Bar Association, The Texas Bar Foundation, and the Houston Bar Association. Texas Monthly Magazine has continuously named Mr. Weinberg as a “Super Lawyer†since 2005.
During his undergraduate years, Mr. Weinberg worked as a reporter on the Daily Texan newspaper with responsibility for coverage of the University of Texas System. During his last year and even through his graduation in May 1979, he worked as a legislative assistant to a State Representative who also served as Chairman of the Constitutional Amendments Committee that passed a ban on having an income tax in Texas. After graduation from the University of Texas with honors, Mr. Weinberg attended S.M.U. School of Law in Dallas. He graduated in 1982 and passed the Texas Bar the same year. He began his practice in 1982 with Baker & Botts in Houston, Texas. During his first year of practice he argued a case before the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Weinberg is licensed to practice law in all District and County Courts in the State of Texas. He is licensed to practice before all Federal District Courts in Texas, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Weinberg is married with two children. He supports a golf habit at the Golf Club at Westwood and is responsible for the welfare of four horses.
